I was stopped by police for taking photos of security cameras under the terrorism legislation. Whilst they where quizing me, they violently arrested a passer by for a public order offence.

if you've followed this issue on indymedia, the name 'barbara tucker' will be well-known to you. for over a year, metropolitan police have been harassing, hounding and assaulting this peaceful woman for doing no more than holding a pink banner in public in the socpa area. yet they have still not been able to defend their actions in court, and the stench of corruption grows stronger.

RWE NPower have gone to great expense to try and gag the local press, TV and
even Radio, to prevent the news getting out there that they are trashing
Thrupp Lake and cutting down hundreds of trees, causing distress to the
nesting birds and causing pain to the local residents who have made an
application to have the place classed as a Town Green.

“Vulture fund” companies buy up the debt of poor countries at cheap prices, and then demand payments much higher than the original amount of the debt, often taking poor countries to court when they cannot afford to repay. Investigative journalist Greg Palast reports on one company trying to collect $40 million from the government of Zambia after buying its debt for $4 million.

I just got finished reading Bob Gallo's testimony in the Parenzee
case. For all the good his testimony will do, the prosecution might
as well have called George W. Bush to the stand. I get the feeling
that Gallo unwittingly associated himself with Bush in the eyes of
the court.

this is old news but the debate continues

For those who still don't believe it is possible to be bugged even when you are not using your mobile phone there is plenting of info showing this is the case going back several years.

one such article reprinted here from FT.

" more significantly they can also remotely install a piece of software on to any handset, without the owner's knowledge, which will activate the microphone even when its owner is not making a call, giving security services the perfect bugging device. "We have inadvertently started carrying our own trackable ID card in the form of the mobile phone," said Sandra Bell, head of the homeland security department at the Royal United Services Institute."
