Anti-gay Bollocks, stickers appearing in town

22-07-2010 23:24

Was told today of the appearence of anti-gay stickers, at a number of places around Nottingham.

Clearly, these sad folks are trying to organise ahead of Nottingham Gay Pride. Hate filled 'arise and warn' indeed.  People had just ripped a couple down in Hockley. If seen, I ask you to do the same....

Notttingham Pride: March.   Gather at 10.45am
Meet at the Old Bandstand in the Arboretum and march to the new site at the Forest Recreation Ground.

Main event from 12noon - 8pm Saturday 31st July
Main stage acts include the Cheeky Girls and The Dream Bears plus lots more. There's also a funfair, 3 bars and more than 100 stalls.

There will also be a "speakers corner" featuring LGBT campaigner Pete Tatchell.

Spanish Civil War, Anarchism & Collectives

22-07-2010 21:24

Exhibition & Talks at the Sparrows' Nest.  Sunday 18th July.

Exhibition & Talks at the Sparrows' Nest.  Sunday 18th July.

Anarchist Federation's Nottingham group hosted an event at the Sparrow's Nest entitled "Civil War and Revolution: Anarchism in Spain".

The Talk and exhibition came the day after the re-dedication of the memorial to the International Brigades at Nottinghamshire County Hall.

26 people from Nottinghamshire fought as part of the ‘International Brigades'. They volunteered where no western power took a stance against fascism.

Earlier this year anarchists and socialists in Nottinghamshire were shocked once again by our 'elected leaders'. It was discovered that the Nottinghamshire County Council, was removing the explanatory plaque of the International Brigade's memorial at County Hall, effectively hiding it away.

In the context of the re-emergence of the far right on our door steps in the form of the BNP, re-launched NF and the semi-fascist EDL, this desecration is not merely an affront to those brave comrades who volunteered to fight Franco. It stands as a symbol of how British ‘democracy' tried and still tries to brush (re-)emerging fascist movements under the carpet rather than deal with them. It remains up to anti-fascists everywhere to continue the fight.

"¡A las barricadas, companeros y companeras!" ("To the barricades, comrades!")

SOS - West Yorkshire Hunt Sabs

22-07-2010 13:24

Support Our Sabs! - Land Rover Appeal

With all the bad news for wildlife that comes with the recent election, we want to do something good. We're trying to raise around £5000 to buy a new Land Rover for our group.
For the last 3 years we've been piling our Sabs over to Sheffield every week.
Buying a Land Rover would double the number of Sabs we can get out in Yorkshire,
and make travelling a lot easier.

We need YOUR help to make this happen; we need people to help us with fund-raising, and we also need people to make some donations. (Credit and Debit cards now accepted via our Paypal).

When Cameron repeals the hunting ban, we're going to need to step up the fight against hunting, an extra 12 Sabs and the manoeuvrability of an extra vehicle will give us a much needed edge to carry on the work we do.

Zionist lobby may succeed in changing UK law on war crimes

22-07-2010 12:07

After much pressure from Israel the ICC Act may be ammended so that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) must approve any arrest warrants for israeli war crimes suspects.

This could allow Israeli officials to enter the UK without fear of arrest.

Current DPP Kier Starmer today announced there would be no criminal prosecution of police over death of Ian Tomlinson.
