Four years after the initial World Social Forum (WSF) in Porto Alegre, a frame has been built to facilitate discussion, debate and exchanges, on how to build a better world. A series of meetings were held in order to explore what we can expect from this experience. The first event, titled “Future and perspectives for the ESF - WSF”, was held on Friday 14th of October 2004 in the Alexandra Palace of the English capital.

There are at this moment about 75 police at King's Cross surrounding about 15 peaceful protestors who got off the train and were trying to join the main demo today. Makes a bit of a mockery about their usual claim of always being under resourced.

From one participant of the ESF – whilst standing on a chair to take photos of the intervention, the speaker that was currently in the middle of speaking, came off the stage and was shouting and using obsentities to those doing the intervetion on stage, two women from the SWP were holding him and trying calm him dowm and saying stay calm... at which point he than broke free from the women, ran behind the stage then attacked people trying to speak, at which point a banner went up and the skimish was blocked from view. However, photographers on the scaffolding took pictures - we may soon see what happened.....

At this present moment there has been a 48% increase in homeless families in Liverpool and as a result they are planning to build more dreadful homeless hostels for poor unfortunate people to live in.

Ministry of Defence gags soldier's grieving mother

She is the mother of soldier Gordon Gentle who was killed in Iraq. She is currently suing the Ministry of Defence over her son's death.
On 3 September, the Ministry of Defence issued a D notice about her case.
D notices are government orders which are issued to media outlets. They warning the media off reporting certain things.
