28-03-2007 12:09On March 14th, 15 people were killed and many more injured when the police opened fire on peasants trying to protect their land from being acquired for a Special Economic Zone (SEZ). On Monday the 2nd of April, there will be a demo outside the Indian High Commission to protest the tragic loss of human life caused by the violent expansion of neo-liberal economic forces.
28-03-2007 10:38Stockport Law Centre faces closure if Lord Carter's reforms of Legal Aid go ahead unchallenged. As a not for profit charity, Stockport Law Centre is heavily reliant on funding from the Legal Services Commission and this is set to change from an hourly rate to a fixed fee. 28-03-2007 07:33From the onset let me say that given the sources of information most people are basing there opinions on, I am not surprised by nor am I opposed to people criticizing President Robert Mugabe or anyone else for that matter. It seems that, for the most part, many of Mugabe's critics resist any other views than the sordid ones they are presented with and that is what they share. I receive hate-filled emails from them and from the tone of the emails most are from a White point of view.
28-03-2007 07:30I excitedly purchased the distinguished former American president Jimmy Carter's new book "Palestine, Peace Not Apartheid" and put it on my bookshelf to read the moment I got the chance. Alas, this book will now surely always sit there gathering dust and unread, because before I could get to it, I read the following account in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz about this book that greatly disturbed me. A new red herring has been cleverly introduced into the discourse space, albeit enlarging it somewhat, but not sufficiently for me to waste my time chasing down yet another distinguished red herring.

655,000 Iraqis had died due to the US/UK invasion/occupation since March 2003, 'The study
design is robust and employs methods that are regarded as close to "best practice" in this area'.
In other words, the MoD has acknowledged the "deci-Holocaust" in Iraq (10% of the Holocaust).
