Mayday Media War: Police spin Internet angle

23-02-2001 18:54

The same internet story as last year (and post j18) being used by police to keep the 'they're organising a violent mayday riot' story infront of the press.

I mean look at the url they've given the story for fucks sake and mayday 2001 is still months away!

It's also amazing that they keep refering to 'mayday riots' - which let's face it is not what happened last year.

anti-gm cows blockade Sainsbury depots

anti-gm cows blockade Sainsbury depots
This morning (22 Feb 2001) at approximately 10:30am protestors have begun blockading Sainsbury's regional distribution centres around the country, preventing them from supplying Sainsbury's supermarkets with GM-fed animal produce because of their failure to follow recent moves by other supermarket chains in announcing a date by which all own-brand animal products will be from animals raised on a GM free diet. These images comes from the protest at Basingstoke - where 4 people were eventually arrested, having locked-on underneath a lorry, blocking the access to the depot.

Controversial Itoiz Dam is 'potentially catastrophic'

21-02-2001 17:57

Spanish Authorities have decided to begin filling the controversial Itoiz Dam in Navarra next month, despite a new safety report which states that the dam is very likely to have 'catastrophic consequences' if it is filled. The report states that this catastrophy could endanger the safety of the Asco Nuclear Power Plant further down river. Protestors are calling for a moratorium on the filling of the dam until an international panel of experts is satisfied it is safe.
