Lib Dem MP At The University Of Bath Fri 7PM

30-11-2010 16:25

Get to the UNI of Bath claverton campus friday evening. Condem mp foster is coming to speak to students. The students that voted for him and the students he promised not to increase tuition fees.
UNI of Bath

Back in May many students here at the University of Bath voted for Don Foster our local MP because his party the Liberal Democrats promised to oppose cuts to higher education and to not increase tuition fees. Since the coalition government the Conservative Party has campaigned for a rise in tuition fees and heavy cuts to university funding. Many Liberal Democrats have not stood by their promise including Don Foster.

To explain his decision to students Don will be coming to campus THIS FRIDAY 3rd December. It is important that as many of you are there as possible to hear what he has to say and ask questions.

Don will be talking at 7pm in University Hall and will be joined by Nicholas Coombes Councillor for Bathwick who will explain all the facts and figures related to University Funding.

This issue of funding cuts will affect ALL students so we are anticipating large numbers of attendees. Students wishing to attend must sign up in advance here on bathstudent and must bring their library card with them. Spaces at the talk will be allocated on a first come first served basis and students will be admitted into University Hall from 6.45pm.

Students unsuccessful in signing up to the event will be able to hear it live via URB in the new student centre.

So sign up now and dont miss this chance to have a say on the future funding of university education!

WikiLeaks: The Naked Empire ...

30-11-2010 15:49

WikieleaksCableGate
WikiLeaks: The Empire Is Naked And Governments Are In Damage Control ... On Monday, governments worldwide scrambled to salvage the little dignity they have left however they could, after being exposed by Julian Assange’s Wikileaks. Government representatives voiced an overwhelming, and almost universal condemnation of the release of the US State Department secret communication files in France, Britain, Iran, Germany, Saudi Arabia etc. The leaked diplomatic documents revealed secret details on some of the world’s most tense crisis, they also paint most world leaders in very unflattering and undiplomatic terms. More seriously, the documents expose the State Department as a giant intelligence gathering structure where the diplomatic mission has taken a back sit to the spying one. Some of the highlight of the cables include a call by Saudi King Abdullah for the US to “cut off the head of the Iranian snake”, and a Chinese government attempt to hack into Google.

Prince Andrew: UK "In the thick of playing the Great Game"

30-11-2010 15:18

¶9. (C) Addressing the Ambassador directly, Prince Andrew then turned to regional politics. He stated baldly that “the United Kingdom, Western Europe (and by extension you Americans too”) were now back in the thick of playing the Great Game. More animated than ever, he stated cockily: “And this time we aim to win!” Without contradicting him, the Ambassador gently reminded him that the United States does not see its presence in the region as a continuation of the Great Game. We support Kyrgyzstan’s independence and sovereignty but also welcome good relations between it and all of its neighbors, including Russia.
