Pre-Climate Camp street medic training!

01-07-2008 18:24

The UK Action Medics are running a 2 1/2 day street medic training in Leeds during the run-up to Climate Camp. It will be a 20 hour course that will teach you the basics of general First Aid, as well as skills to deal with medical situations specific to direct action, such as dealing with chemical weapons and the police. We will also be offering sections specifically tailored to situations likely to arise at this year’s Climate Camp, such as water safety and public health. The course will involve scenarios and hands-on practice and, although we cannot offer you any official accreditation, the 2 1/2 day training is the minimum standard for membership of the Action Medics, and will equip you for a wide range of situations, from hypothermia to baton wounds.

Indipendent journalist detained on way to g8 protest

01-07-2008 13:37

Last night (June 27), three Hong Kong citizen journalists who have
been registered with the Citizens' Media Center (Sapporo) were
detained by Immigration, and were on the verge of being deported.
This morning, Susan George (ATTAC France) was stopped and questioned
at the airport. Ms George is 74 years old, and her detention
demonstrates a lack of humanity on the part of authorities.

The Natalie Bracht story, the plot thickens

01-07-2008 12:19

This story has been running in the mainstream media, both local and national press, since mother of five Natalie Bracht, left her home in Sunderland on 17th May this year and went on the run. With joint British and German nationality, Natalie settled in Sunderland with her five daughters in 2006. She told local papers and social services that she had fled her home city of Dusseldorf to escape a dangerous husband involved in a religious cult. She was provided with housing and benefits etc but whether the authorities believed this story or not is unclear. What we do know is that Childrens Services were involved in the case from the beginning.

londonfete reveals the "Plan C from Outer Space" (Croydon July 5th)

Plan C from Outer Space - Get Involved!
Plan "C" as in Croydon

For Freedom of Movement and Freedom To Protest!

On the 5th of July 2008, people all around the world will protest
against the G8 summit 2008 in Japan. Globalisation has created huge
movements of people to the centres of capitalism. However whilst capital
- money and commodities - has been granted ever-expanding
freedom of movement, the movement of workers as migrants is subject to
increasingly complex and brutal systems of control.

We are calling for a protest against the UK Border Agency.
It is time to join forces, for freedom of movement, the freedom to
protest and equal rights for all !
